Thanks To Dave
As a longtime Letterman fanatic — Lettermaniac! — who drifted away a number of years ago, I made a point of tuning in these last few weeks in the run-up to Dave’s departure. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the sendoff shows, which have been funny and poignant and have made me misty-eyed more than I’d care to admit.
It’s safe to say that no one has had more of an impact on my comedic sensibility than Dave. I never fulfilled my youthful dream of becoming a writer on the Letterman show, but I did make my way into a comedy-writing career. I guess I’m now doing my own version of Stupid Pet Tricks with Captain Scratchy.
